Last year we wrote this: "Can you identify this fountain? It is or was located in Harrisburg, PA. It is known as the Eby Fountain. If you know what it is, please let us know."

We have since learned more.
For the complete story see the April 2003 newsletter. According to the 8/22/00 issue of the Harrisburg Patriot newspaper (reported to us by Jerry Eby) the fountain was erected by Fanny and Maurice Eby in memory of Jacob Eby of Harrisburg who died in 1883. It stood in front of their house and had basins for water for horses and dogs, as well as a faucet for pedestrians. This picture is from an old postcard that the Eby Family Association purchased on Ebay.
